Durchführung:

Schritt 1: Sobald ein negativer, ablenkender oder störender Gedanke auftritt, rufe laut „STOPP!“ um den Gedankenfluss zu unterbrechen. Wenn du gerade nicht alleine bist reicht es auch, dieses „STOPP!“ innerlich laut zu rufen, also zu visualisieren.

Schritt 2: Ausatmen und sich sofort wieder auf die anstehende Aufgabe fokussieren.

Schritt 3: Die anstehende Aufgabe weiter abarbeiten und sich gegebenenfalls weiter durch Selbstgespräche motivieren dran zu bleiben („Mach weiter!“, „Fokus auf …!“, „Dranbleiben!“).

Zunächst einmal ein wichtiger Hinweis:
Wenn du mit dieser Übung beginnst kann es sein, dass die störenden Gedanken sogar öfter auftreten als vorher. Nach einigen Wiederholungen nimmt diese Frequenz aber mit der Zeit wieder ab und verschwindet irgendwann vollkommen.

Außerdem kann es hilfreich sein, die Gedankenstopp-Übung mit Entspannungstechniken zu kombinieren (zum Beispiel mit Atemtechniken).
